A 27-year-old man was on Tuesday committed to stand trial at the High Court for the murder of Rawle Rodrigues, who was killed during a robbery at the Route 32 Minibus Park in 2017.

Senior Magistrate Leron Daly, at the end of the Preliminary Inquiry, found that Police Prosecutor Richard Harris had made out a case against Wayne Gilbert and that there is enough evidence for him to face a judge and jury.

The indictment alleged that on January 20, 2017, at Croal Street, Stabroek, Gilbert, formerly of West La Penitence, Georgetown, murdered 34-year-old Rodrigues during the course of a robbery.

In 2018, Afabia Yankana and Akeem Hayman were committed by City Magistrate Judy Latchman to stand trial at the High Court for the same murder.

According to reports, on the day in question, Rodrigues was stabbed to his chest by three men, who allegedly trailed him from the Demico Roof Garden where he was earlier seen consuming alcohol.
