Three serving members of the Guyana Police Force, who are stationed at the Issano Police Station, were on Wednesday charged with demanding money by menace from three Venezuelan women, who are victims of trafficking.
One of the same cops was also charged separately for allegedly raping one of the victims.
Corwyn Mingo, 30; Ceon Jones, 30 and Tevin Estrado, 27 were jointly charged with three counts of demanding money by menace.
Particulars of the three charges alleged that between May 1-31, 2018 at Makari Top, Mazaruni River, with intent to steal, the trio demanded from three Venezuelan women a total of 15 pennyweights raw gold valued $157,000.
The trio denied the charge and were released on $30,000 bail each.
The matter is transferred to the Bartica Magistrate’s Court for May 16,2019.
Meanwhile, Mingo was charged separately for raping one of the Venezuelan women during the month of May 2018 at Makari Top, Mazaruni River.
He was not required to plea to the charge and was released on $150,000 bail.

News Room understands that during the month of June 2018, ranks from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) were investigating a report of TIP when the three women identified the cops as the men who demanded money from them.
One of the victims also alleged that she was raped by Mingo.
