ExxonMobil powering Pure Racing for Georgetown Grand Prix

ExxonMobil on Thursday afternoon renewed its investment in Pure Racing ahead of the highly anticipated Georgetown Grand Prix at GT Motorsports on Saturday from 16:00h.

More support was handed down by ExxonMobil Guyana’s Community Relations and Communications Manager Nicholas Yearwood at the company’s New Market Street headquarters on Thursday.

Yearwood stated, “We are really thankful to team up with Pure Racing. Last year it was a lot of fun, a lot of wins, a lot of excitement and we are committed to the development of the sport locally and we want to continue working on activities that develop youth.”

Team principal Anna Lisa Fraser-Phang, was most elated to have the continued support of the oil giant and vowed the team will make them proud.

John Phang, Ben Phang, Paige Mendonca, Jeremy Ten-Pow and Justin Ten-Pow are the karters who will compete under the Pure Racing banner on Saturday. Their competition spans across the 60cc Kids Cup and the 125cc Juniors and Seniors.

The other categories on show will be 125cc Masters and Easy Cup Rookie.

After qualifying, karters will be gridded for three races: Race 1 (Best qualifying time); Race 2 (Based on Finish from Race 1 with Top 50% of the grid inverted); Race 3 (Based on 2nd best time from Race 1).

Race laps are 12, while in qualifying it will be five. There will be bonus two points for qualifying and bonus three for the fastest lap of the day.
