Decomposed body of missing Berbice farmer found

The partially decomposed body of a Yakarsari South, Black Bush Polder farmer who was reported missing one week ago was found on Friday morning in the Savannah at Number 67 Village, Corentyne Berbice.

Chandramohan Ishmael, 68, also called Lionel, was last seen on May 10 when he left his home.

His children and other relatives subsequently led a search party to several villages along the Corentyne but were unsuccessful in finding him.

The News Room understands that the elderly man was seen afterwards in the vicinity of Number 52–55 Villages on the Corentyne.

His son, who went on a search came up empty handed but asked that members of the community to report to him or the Police immediately if he was seen again.

According to information, the body was seen on Thursday by persons working in the area and reported to authorities but the Police were unable to venture to the scene.

After family members were informed, they contacted the Police and went to the area on Friday morning and identified the body.

The body was subsequently removed and taken to a Funeral Parlour; a post-mortem examination will be done.
