20-Y-0 charged with murder of ‘White Boy’

A 20-year-old labourer appeared before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court charged with the murder of Patrick Fraser, 20, popularly known as ‘White Boy’ who was shot dead while liming with friends in Norton Street, Bagotstown, East Bank Demerara (EBD) on May 9.

Kevin Rose of Diamond Housing Scheme, East Bank Demerara was not required to plea to the capital offence, which stated that he murdered Fraser while being in the company of others on May 9 during the course or furtherance of a robbery.

Rose was represented by Attorneys-at-law Nigel Hughes and Everton Singh-Lammy while the case is being prosecuted by Inspector Neville Jeffers.

The Prosecutor told the court that the file is incomplete and the investigation is still ongoing.

The Chief Magistrate remanded Rose to prison until June 4, 2019, and transferred the case to Magistrate Sherdel Isaacs-Marcus for hearing.

The News Room had reported that the shooting took place at an abandoned house which is a known “drug yard” in the community.

Police said that Fraser, who resided at Republic Park, EBD, was consuming alcohol with friends when “someone discharged two rounds at him” at around 20:30 hrs.

The young man, who is related to the owner of C&F Harbour Bridge Mall, was rushed to the Diamond Diagnostic Centre by a friend where he died while receiving treatment.

Fraser received a gunshot wound to his right upper leg and one to his right side rib which exited his left side.

Police recovered a.32 spent shell, one warhead, a pair of black and orange slippers and a white Polo cap at the crime scene.
