The carnival festivities continue tonight at the Providence National Stadium on the East Bank of Demerara as Guyanese are expected to get wet to control the Carnival heat with Trinidadian Soca Grandmaster Machel Montano.
‘Wet Wednesday Fete’ will kick off at 19:00hrs. At a press conference Wednesday afternoon at the Roraima Duke Lodge Hits and Jams Co-owner and Carnival Committee member Kerwin Bollers said, “Machel never disappoints; his biggest fan base is here in Guyana, we have worked with him over the years and we know the level of performance and entertainment he brings to the stage and we know that Guyanese are excited about it.”
Bollers assured Guyanese that the venue tonight will be a safe party atmosphere, which is expected to be energized with the heat of Soca with artistes such as Jumo Primo and Adrian Dutchin along with popular Barbadian Disc Jockey DJ Puffy.
Headliners of the event Machel and Mr. Killer will look to bring a multifaceted regional experience to Guyana’s Carnival celebrations.
The Soca GOAT himself Machel said he expects to be surprised by the fans noting that it is the first time he is attending a party where “wet is de intention.”
“I try to pay attention to what is unique but also what is similar because we have our version of the carnival, we have our version of chutney, we have our version of soca but I want to encourage young artistes of Guyana to bring their own version, to step up and talk about GT,” Machel said.
