Essequibo man shot, robbed of gold band during home invasion

A 45-year-old sluice attendant is in a stable condition at the Suddie Hospital after he was shot to the left hand by two armed men who broke into his Onderneeming Sand Pitt, Essequibo Coast home Monday night.

Police said that Vickram Boodram, known as ‘Black Guy’ was at home alone when he heard someone calling out his name at around 21:30hrs.

He peeped outside when he saw two masked men with cloths tied around their mouths in his yard.

The victim told Police that one of the bandits whipped out a small handgun, fired a shot and shattered the glass door.

The bandits entered the house, relieved Boodram of a gold band and then shot him in the hand before escaping.

Police recovered a 9mm spent shell at the scene.
