Ranks of the Guyana Police Force are currently engaged in a fierce exchange of gunfire with bandits who invaded a house at Norton and Victor Streets, Lodge, Georgetown.
Preliminary reports indicate that the homeowner jumped through a window with his five-year-old son after the men invaded the house.
The man told a reporter at the scene that he pleaded with the bandits not to take his daughter’s laptop since she started teaching recently but they threatened to shoot him and his son.
After the homeowner managed to escape, he flagged down a Police patrol passing at the time.
The man said the bandits immediately asked for his sister-in-law who recently arrived in the country from the United States and demanded money and jewellery.
The cops managed to corner the gunmen inside the house.
