For the 16th year, Torginol Paints Inc. on Saturday pulled off its annual golf tournament at the Lusignan Golf Course, with Aleem Hussain and Mahin Tiwari topping their respective Flights.
Witnessed by representatives of Continental Group of Companies, the manufacturers of Torginol Paints, the close-to-30 golfers brought their A-game, with their main aim being to lift the beautiful first place trophies put up by the sponsor.
In the end, current Lusignan Golf Club president Hussain and Tiwari were the ones basking in the glory of success, topping the 0-13 and 14-28 Flights respectively.
In the 0-13 Flight, Hussain had a Net 72 and Gross 82, while 2018 champion Kassim Khan and former Club Captain Patrick Prashad returned identical scores of Net 73, Gross 82. Khan prevailed on a back-nine countback.
In the 14-28 Flight, Tiwari emerged with Net 67, Gross 82. He finished ahead of Mahesh Shivraj (Net 71, Gross 87) and Philbert London (Net 72, Gross 96).
Khan won the Nearest-to-the-Pin prize.
At the presentation ceremony, Hussain, speaking as president of the Club, said Continental Group of Companies has always been a faithful partner to golf, and that is demonstrated through the strong alliance that has been developed over the years.
Hussain has always commended the entity for not only providing an avenue for golfers to showcase their skills annually, but also contributing significantly to the upkeep of the facilities at Lusignan, East Coast Demerara.
The outstanding performers were given their prizes by representatives of Continental Group of Companies/Toginol Paints Inc., Chemist Jairaj Rajpat, Administrative Assistant Rajesh Ramgolam and Marketing Assistant Robert Singh.
