Deon ‘Mr. Futsal’ Alfred rattled Future Stars with seven goals to power Tiger Bay into the Corona Futsal final after some high intensity semi-finals action at the weekend at the National Gymnasium, Mandela Avenue.
Of Tiger Bay’s eight goals in the 8-5 win, one man scored seven, which simply stunned the opposition. Keoma Gravesande played a minuscule role in the onslaught with a goal in the 39th.
Stars however, rallied their way with a solid fight back. William Europe netted a hat-trick with goals in the 10th, 16th and 22nd minutes, supported by the talented Jamal Cozier (11th and 19th).
Alfred stated his team is confident of going the full distance once they play according to the plan. He further expressed that he has the desire and the skills to lead them to victory.
The other semi-final saw defending champions Bent Street booted by the formidable Back Circle, losing 1-4. Trayon Bobb had a double (19th and 33rd) and Quasan McAlly (13th and 24th). Sheldon Profitt netted for Bent Street in the 33rd.
At stake at the June 8 final is $500,000 for the champion team. Second to fourth will pocket $250,000, $150,000 and $75,000 respectively. The Most Valuable Player will ride off with a Hero Motorcycle.
