Teen jailed for 6-months after escaping custody

Eighteen-year-old Trevor Gasper was on Wednesday sentenced to six-months imprisonment for escaping from the Ruimveldt Police Station.

Gasper, of Middle Road, East La Penitence, Georgetown was sentenced by City Magistrate Rondell Weaver after being found guilty of the charge.

The charge read that on December 11, 2018, Gasper while being in custody at the Ruimveldt Police Station pending a robbery-under-arms charge, unlawfully escaped police custody.

According to reports, he was placed on the prisoner’s bench in the inquiries office to be transported to the Georgetown Magistrate’s court, however, Gasper picked the locks of the cuffs and ran out of the police station.

He was later recaptured.
