In an international friendly geared at gauging preparations for the Concacaf Gold Cup later this month, host nation Bermuda emerged with a 1-0 win over Guyana on Thursday evening.
Both countries are at the back-end of preparations for their debut appearance at Concacaf’s marque event. While both camps have stated that the result of the friendly encounter was not of paramount importance, Bermuda’s confidence would have been lifted by Donte Brangman’s goal in the 37th minute.
Guyana’s Golden Jaguars will now travel to Costa Rica where they will continue their camp and will play their second and final friendly against Haiti next week. This encounter, Head Coach Michael Johnson noted, would be a lot different in terms of approach.
Guyana has been drawn in Group D of the Concacaf Gold Cup and will play hosts USA on June 18 in Minneapolis, Panama on June 22 in Cleveland and Trinidad and Tobago in Kansas City on June 26.
