The Headquarters Sub-Committee of the Guyana Association of Women Police transformed the atmosphere inside the Police Officers’ Mess Annex, Eve Leary on Saturday night to crown a queen who would represent the Police Headquarters arm at the grand Miss Guyana Police Force Pageant in August of 2019.
The event saw Miss Criminal Investigations Division Tavia Bookie standing out from eight other delegates to be crowned Miss Police Headquarters.

Bookie, of East Ruimveldt, Georgetown, was visibly stunned. She also won the Miss Congeniality, Best Talent and Best Evening Gown prizes. Overwhelmed with joy, she said she couldn’t believe she won and was overwhelmed with joy.
The four Judges tasked with deliberating on the pageant standouts were former Miss Guyana Leanna Damond, Ms. Petal Ridley, Ms. Dawn Braithwaite and Ms. Joanna Simons.
Before the queen was crowned, pageant host Mondale Smith announced the delegates who stood out in various categories followed by the runners up. Miss Central Immigration and Passport Office Kiticia Pellew captured the Best Sportswear award; it was followed by the Best Business Wear award that went to Miss Quartermaster Stores Sharmin Chichester – Sutton.
The woman with the most memorable smile was Miss Felix Austin Police College Faith Troyer who took home the Best Smile and People’s Choice Awards while Miss Commissioner’s Office Whitney Clarke was rewarded for her display of intellect along with her unique Martial Arts Sword Kata Display in the talent segment. She walked away with the Most Intelligent award and the valuable first-runner up position.
Second and third runners up went to Miss Guyana Police Force Credit Union Kenesha Haywood and Miss Force Control Shannah Rodney.
There could be no lack of support for the delegates as the auditorium was almost filled to capacity by well-dressed police officers and other supporters who kept the event energised throughout the night. (Nigel Collymore)
