An Agricola, East Bank Demerara resident was on Friday sentenced to three months imprisonment for hitting his elderly aunt with a piece of wood to her foot.
Eon Thompson appeared before City Magistrate Leron Daly at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court and admitted that on May 6, 2019, at Agricola, he inflicted grievous bodily harm to Leonora Torrington.
Thompson also admitted that on the day in question he also used threatening behaviour and abusive language towards Torrington.
He was sentenced to three months imprisonment for the inflicted grievous bodily harm charge and fined $10,000 each on the latter charges.
The court heard that Thompson visited the woman’s house with a piece of wood and threatened to kill her.
The victim became fearful and decided to take a photo of Thompson, who then became further annoyed and hit her with the wood.
The court was further told that the woman managed to escape and called 911.
