An East Coast Demerara teen technician and a driver were Tuesday electrocuted while working at the Guyana National Stadium at Providence, East Bank Demerara; two others were also injured.
Dead are Krishna Chan, 16, of Lot 96 Lusignan Pasture East Coast Demerara (ECD) and Anthon (only name given), a driver of Buxton, ECD.
Police Headquarters in a statement said Chan and 24-year-old Aftab Umrao, who is also from Lusignan, were installing security cameras along with two other men on the northern side of the compound when the incident occurred at around 13:22hrs.
The other man has been identified as 53-year-old porter Brian Culley of Vigilance, ECD.
Umrao received minor injuries while Culley received burnt injuries to the palm of his left hand. They both were treated at the Georgetown Public Hospital and sent away.
Chan and Anthon were pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.
Police reported that Chan’s torso, arms and face were burnt beyond recognition while Anthon showed no physical injuries.
Reports indicate that Umrao was handing Chan the wire to install the cameras and he, Chan, had it wrapped around his neck.
Anthon and Culley were holding a metal pole which was attached to a Crane on the truck when the top of the pole touched the high voltage GPL wire.
The bodies are presently at the Lyken Funeral Home awaiting a Post Mortem examination as the investigation continues.
Chan was employed with Smart Tech Solution at Kersaint Park, La Bonne Intention ECD; Umrao is also attached to the same company.
