22-Y-0 admits to raping three girls including minor

Twenty-two-year-old Leon Jordan on Wednesday confessed to three rape charges when he appeared before Justice Brassington Reynolds at the Demerara High Court.

Jordan opted to plead guilty to the three charges and told the court “it’s good to tell the truth” when he stood in the Sexual Offenders Court.

Particulars of the first charge alleged that on February 2, 2012, in the county of Demerara, Jordan engaged in sexual activity with a 7-year-old girl.

The second charge alleged that on January 13, 2016, he engaged in sexual activity with a 14-year-old girl and the last charge state that on October 25, 2016, he engaged in sexual penetration with a 24- year old woman.

Jordan was represented by Attorney-at-law Maxwell McKay while the State was represented by prosecutors Seeta Bishundial and Abigail Gibbs.

The young man told the court that prison is not a nice place for sex offenders.

Justice Reynolds ordered that Jordan under a psychiatric evaluation and that a probation report is prepared for his sentencing on June 26, 2019.

In May 2016, Jordan was freed of a rape charge at the High Court after a 12-member jury found him not guilty.

He was charged then with engaging in sexual activity with a 16-year-old girl on October 24, 2014. Justice Priya Sewnarine-Beharry was the presiding judge in that case which was held in-camera.
