Midfielder Warren Creavalle will play no part in Guyana’s Concacaf Gold Cup campaign later this month, owing to injury.
Creavalle’s Major League Soccer club, Philadelphia Union, on Tuesday announced that player broke a bone in his foot during training with the Guyana team.
According to Jim Curtin, Philadelphia Union’s Head Coach, Creavalle would be out of action for the next two to four weeks. Guyana’s first Gold Cup match is on June 18.
It is understood the Guyana’s team management is considering a replacement for Creavalle, but for that process to occur a formal request has to be made to Concacaf.
Guyana has been drawn in Group D of the Concacaf Gold Cup and will play hosts USA on June 18 in Minneapolis, Panama on June 22 in Cleveland and Trinidad and Tobago in Kansas City on June 26.
The Gold Cup kicks off on Saturday (June 15) with a Group A double-header at the Rose Bowl, Pasadena, CA from 16:30h when Canada oppose Martinique followed by Mexico against Cuba.
