Twenty-year-old Kishan Sankar died mere minutes after leaving his Richmond Housing Scheme, Essequibo Coast home Saturday night when his motorcycle crashed into a concrete bridge at the Richmond Nursery School.
Residents recalled that Sankar was speeding on CJ 2467 when he crashed and ended up inside the trench next to the school at around 21:00hrs.
The young man reportedly died on the spot after he was pinned under the motorcycle inside the trench.
“Me hear the motorbike fall down, the person fall down…I run out with me towel. Me nah see nobody but me see the motorbike in the trench,” Alicia Munroe, a resident told the News Room.
Residents rushed to the scene and found Sankar’s body in the trench after removing the motorcycle.
Sankar’s grandmother Jasmattie Lall told the News Room that minutes before he left, she warmed him about going on the road late at nights on his motorcycle.
“Me does quarrel pon him night time when he go out with he motorbike,” the grieving woman said.
The grandmother explained that Sankar previously lived in La Grange, West Bank Demerara but never left Essequibo since he visited for the Easter holidays.
Police are investigating.
