Bandits drop cash, escape after coming under fire during robbery

Two bandits dropped their loot and ran for cover after a licensed firearm holder discharged several shots in the air when they robbed a pump attendant at the Sukpaul’s Gas Station in Springlands Corriverton Thursday morning.

The bandits, armed with a machete, attacked the employee at approximately 04:15 hrs.

A licensed firearm holder who observed what was happening fired serval shots in the air and the two quickly scampered off leaving most the cash behind.

They only managed to escape with $35,000.

In August 2018, a naked bandit who was armed with a piece of wood beat two employees of the same gas station and carted off with an undisclosed sum of cash and phone cards.

The incident was also caught on CCTV cameras and the perpetrator was positively identified, arrested and charged.

The Police have launched an investigation into Thursday morning’s robbery and several persons are being questioned.
