Sponsorship crucial to motor-racing’s development- GMR&SC President

Ahead of round two of the Drag Race championship at South Dakota Circuit on Sunday, the Guyana Motor Racing and Sports Club (GMR&SC) President Rameez Mohamed has embraced the overwhelming support of faithful sponsors who continue to play significant roles in developing the sport.

Mohamed indicated to News Room Sport that “sponsors are vital in helping to give fans the best possible event. We cannot do it alone, and we are most grateful for their commitment over the years. The sport is growing and we hope with its popularity the sponsors can benefit from more exposure.”

The motor-racing boss further stated that it’s not just the club that benefits from the benevolence, but also competitors.

A pioneer in the forward movement of drag racing in particular has been Mohamed’s Enterprise. The entity has been from investing heavily in some of the fastest cars in the world, to funding the building of the launch pad, which has now allowed cars to race the full quarter-mile.

The illustrious aim of the club is to provide more substantial branding for these sponsors at the track given the magnitude of attendance, especially at drag racing meets of recent.

With the blooming popularity, Mohamed hopes more of corporate Guyana can create partnerships with the club for this meet and those in the future.

Plans are already afoot for the massive International Drag Race meet in August, which should bring a multitude of supporters and competitors from outside of Guyana.
