Linden schoolboy dies days after accident

A fifteen-year-old student of the Linden Foundation Secondary School has died days after he was struck down by a speeding motor car on the Amelia’s Ward Access Road.

Derrick Rambharrat died around 2:00pm on Saturday at the Georgetown Public Hospital where he was on life support. This was confirmed by the lad’s father, Rajesh Rambharrat.

Derrick was struck down on Wednesday at about 11:40hrs by motorcar PTT 4790 which was being driven at a fast rate by a female teacher. Police said the teen who was at the time riding a bicycle allegedly rode into the path of the motorcar.

He received multiple injuries to his body and was picked up in an unconscious state and rushed to the Linden Hospital Complex and later transported to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he was on life support. He died without regaining consciousness.

The driver was tested 0% for alcohol.
