Apart from bragging rights, trophies and an opportunity to win an iPhone XR at the Georgetown Grand Prix, Junior karters now have the added incentive of a chance to represent Guyana at AMR Motorplex Karting Challenge in Homestead, Florida.
The event in Florida is expected to be held on the first weekend of January 2020 and the top X30 Junior karter from Guyana will be the beneficiary of a Motul-sponsored package, which includes a kart, airfare and hotel accommodation for the competitor.
It means come July 6, when the second round of the 2019 Georgetown Grand Prix is staged at GT Motorsports, the young talents will be keen for another sublime exposition of skills. This second round could prove crucial in who finishes at the top, given how the points table is currently stacked.
It is headed by Nathan Rahaman on 61 points. He was named champion driver at the first round held in May by virtue of copping a first and two second place finishes.
Just one point behind is cousin Zachary Persaud, who got a first, second and third. The family affair continues with Rayden Persaud in third on 50 points, compliments of a first in the final race and a third place in the second.
Jamaican Tommi Gore (30 points), Jeremy TenPow (27 points), Faraud Mohamed (26 points) and Paige Mendonca (18 points) complete the table.
The July 6 event will also feature the 60cc Kids Cup, 125cc Seniors and Masters, along with the Easy Cup Rookie and Super.
