Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of 39-year-old Lallbachan Bachan who was found motionless inside the Suddie Police Station lockup on Monday morning.
Police Headquarters in a brief statement noted that the taxi driver of Maria’s Lodge, Essequibo Coast was discovered lifeless at about 06:10hrs; he was arrested on Thursday following two warrants issued for driving under the influence of alcohol.
He was pronounced dead on arrival at the Suddie Public Hospital.
Police Headquarters claimed that the body bore no marks of violence and Bachan was the lone prisoner in the cell.
The body is at the hospital’s mortuary awaiting a post mortem.
