A 14-year-old Matthews Ridge, North West District schoolboy was on Tuesday charged with the murder of his schoolmate.
The teen appeared before Magistrate Faith McGusty at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court and was not required to plea to the charge.
It is alleged that on June 27, 2019, he murdered Joseph Bunbury, 14.
The teenager did not have legal representation and was not required to plea to the charge; the matter was held in-camera given the fact that he is still a child.
The 14-year-old was remanded to prison until July 3, 2019, when he will appear before the Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan.
Reports indicate that the victim was at a shop consuming alcohol with his cousin when he was attacked by the accused.
He was stabbed to the chest and hands.
