Santos Football Club and Dynamic FC upstaged the favourites to reach the final of the KFC National Under-20 Football tournament, following semi-final action at the weekend.

Santos FC ousted the highly favoured Fruta Conquerors 2-0 at the National Training Centre, Providence. The two would have clashed in a final in early June to determine the champion of the Georgetown Football Association. That match ended 3-1 in favour of Conquerors.

Tables turned and it was a brace from talisman Stephen Reynolds that knocked out the Georgetown champions. Reynolds struck in the 80th and 88th minutes to leave Fruta in shambles.

Santos were able to hold up their excellent plays in the second half, and just when it looked like the encounter would go to extra time, Reynolds got on the scoresheets twice in the space of eight minutes.

Linden’s Botofago faced East Coast outfit Dynamic FC in semi-final one and lost by a 2-4 margin after Maurice Adams notched up a brace for Dynamic.

Botofago took an early 1-0 lead, courtesy of Shane Haynes in the 24th minute, but Maurice Adams equalised for Dynamic in the 33rd minute before his teammate Julius Hamilton made it 2-1 in the 43rd minute.

Adams made it 3-1 with his second of the game in the 60th minute, before Andre Mayers pulled one back for Botofago via a penalty in the 71st minute. However, John Gonsalves sealed the deal in the 90th minute to leave the scoreline at 4-2.

The final was initially set for July 1, but inclement forced a postponement. The new date will be announced shortly by the Guyana Football Federation.

The winning team will collect $500, 000, a trophy and medals, while the runners-up will pocket $300,000, a trophy and medals. Third-place winners will walk away with $200,000, a trophy and medals, while fourth place will get a trophy and medals.
