Teen killed by cop in Tuschen accident

A 17-year-old was on Sunday killed in an accident on the Tuschen Public Road, East Bank Essequibo.

The driver responsible for the accident is a 25-year-old Police Constable of Blue Berry Hill, Wismar, Linden and stationed on the West Demerara.

He told investigators that he was proceeding west along the southern carriageway of the road, driving motorcar #PNN 7853, when the teen, Mohamed Azeez of Ocean Gardens, Meten Meer Zorg, West Coast Demerara  (WCD) ran into the path of the vehicle.

Azeez was taken to the Leonora Cottage Hospital in an unconscious state where he died while receiving treatment.

The body is presently at Ezekiel’s Funeral Home awaiting a post mortem.

The incident occurred at about 00:50 hrs on Sunday.

The driver was tested and no alcohol detected; he is in custody assisting with the investigation.
