Dubbed ‘Celebration of Athletic Excellence in Guyana’, the 10th annual Jefford Classic is set to be held on August 11 at the Mackenzie Sports Club Ground, Linden.

At the official launch on Monday at Ansa McAl Trading’s head office at Beterverwagting, East Coast Demerara, the organisers announced that lucrative cash incentives and door prizes would be on offer.

According to founder, Edison Jefford, to celebrate the 10-year anniversary, “a unique sports package event” would be put together for athletes and spectators.

As was the case before when clubs benefitted, cash incentives, amounting to more than two million dollars, would now go directly to the athletes.

The top three finishers would receive $40,000, $25,000 and $15,000 respectively. The event will get underway at 09:00h and admission is $1,000 for adults and $500 for children.

The event has garnered the support of the National Sports Commission, Ansa McAl Trading, Exxon Mobil, DeSinco Trading under Swiss Brand, Antarctic Maintenance and Repairs, YK Investments Pawn Shop, Jude Bike Shop and Power Producers Distributors Inc.
