Three of five suspects are in Police custody after they allegedly robbed a 27-year-old woman on Monday night while she and others were walking along the Recht-door-Zee Public Road on the West Bank of Demerara.
Police Headquarters revealed that the victim of ‘A’ Field Sophia, Greater Georgetown was in the company of two others walking along the road at around 19:00hrs when they were accosted by the suspects and she was relieved of her jewellery, cash and phone.
Police said most of the stolen items were recovered after the suspects were caught in Parfaite Harmonie.
The three suspects, who were armed with cutlasses and a handgun, were caught some 30 minutes later by the Police.
Efforts are being made to arrest the other suspects; those in custody are all residing in Charlestown, Georgetown, Police Headquarters said.
