West Indies A made a mess of a relatively small target, losing by 65 runs to India A in the opening 50-over match at the Coolidge Cricket Ground, Antigua, on Thursday.
Batting first, India A posted 190 all out in 48.5 overs; West Indies A replied with 125 all out in 35.5 overs.
After winning the toss and electing to bat, India A were led by Shreyas Iyer’s 73, batting at number three. Hanuma Vihari supported with 34 in an otherwise poor batting display.
Test player Roston Chase picked up 4-19 from 6.5 overs, while Akeem Jordan took 3-43 off 10.
West Indies A never recovered from slipping to 30-4 by the 10th over, being bowled out way below the target. Jonathon Carter and Rovman Powell had a joint topscore of 41.
Khaleel Ahmed took 3-16, while there were two each for Axar Patel (2-16), Rahul Chahar (2-32) and Washington Sundar (2-33).
Match two is set for Sunday (July 14) at the same venue.
