GDF rank accused of raping girl, 11 to face Judge and Jury

A serving member of the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) was on Thursday committed to stand trial at the High Court for allegedly raping an 11-year-old school girl.
Reon Joseph, 20 of Wren Avenue, South Ruimveldt, Georgetown was on trial before Magistrate Sherdel Issacs- Marcus where the matter was held in camera.
Particulars of the charge alleged that during the month of December 2017, Joseph lured the girl to his Wren Avenue home and raped her. He was not required to plea to the charge.
The Magistrate on Thursday found that a sufficient case was made out against Joseph for him to stand trial at the High Court before a Judge and Jury.
He was released on $300,000 bail pending his hearing at the High Court.
