A 33-year-old Jamaican National was on Friday sentenced to nine-months imprisonment for escaping from the Police while in custody at the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Headquarters, Eve Leary, Georgetown on January 7, 2019.

Anthony Lynch called ‘Russian’ pleaded guilty to the charge before City Magistrate Leron Daly after spending almost two months on remand.

On May 29, 2019, Lynch was first arraigned before Magistrate Daly where he had pleaded not guilty.

He is currently serving a one-year sentence for circulating a sex tape of his ex-girlfriend to his WhatsApp contacts on January 1, 2019, at Lot 20 East Ruimveldt.

The Jamaican national was also charged for overstaying in Guyana for over two years.

Lynch was permitted to stay in Guyana from November 16, 2016, to April 29, 2017, but remained in the country until May 29, 2019.

He is currently on remand for that charge.
