Lady Jags snap St. Lucia’s winning streak to remain unbeaten
The Lady Jags’ impressive run in the Concacaf Under-20 Women’s Championship Qualifiers continued on Friday evening with a third consecutive win at the National Track and Field Centre, Leonora.
The Guyana national side defeated St. Lucia 2-0 to remain unbeaten in Group A. The Lady Jags also defeated Bermuda and Antigua and Barbuda by a similar margin, meaning they are yet to concede a goal in the tournament.
The victory snapped St. Lucia’s winning streak, and placed the islanders in second spot in the Group, as the Lady Jags have assumed the lead with one match remaining. St. Lucia had won all three of their previous games.
Tiandi Smith put Guyana in the lead in the 19th minute and Nialag Rowe sealed the victory in the 73rd minute. In the other Group A game on Friday, Suriname trounced Antigua and Barbuda 4-1.
The final round of matches in Group A will take place on Sunday with Guyana playing Suriname at 16:00h and Antigua and Barbuda taking on Bermuda at 18:30h.
