President David Granger returned to Guyana Tuesday after completing his medical evaluation in Cuba at the weekend and his team of medical specialists have expressed satisfaction with his recovery.

The Head-of-State has been undergoing treatment for Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma –a type of Cancer which develops in a network of vessels and glands spread throughout the body.

The President had completed his regime of radiotherapy treatment in Cuba in April of this year and left for follow up medical check-up on Saturday last.

According to a statement from the Guyanese Embassy in Cuba, the President’s doctors “undertook four investigations and have expressed satisfaction with the results, and, indeed, his recovery process.

“They have found nothing negative about his present state of health and in keeping with the protocol associated with the treatment and monitoring of this type of medical condition, the Specialists have proposed that he returns to Cuba after ninety days for another round of evaluation,” the statement noted Tuesday.

President Granger was diagnosed with the disease in November 2018 and commenced treatment at the Centre for Medical, Surgical Research (CIMEQ) in Cuba.
