The PNCR is proud of what the Coalition has accomplished

The People’s National Congress Reform (PNCR) iterates its support for the house-to-house registration currently being conducted by the Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM). Unlike the PPP we are convinced that the credibility of the upcoming elections is dependent on the integrity of the Official List of Electors (OLE). Unlike the PPP, the PNCR recognises and is respectful of, the independence of GECOM, it is insulated by our Constitution from political influence, instruction and interference.

The PNCR calls on all political parties and civic groups to respect the independence of GECOM and the Constitution of the Cooperative Republic of Guyana.

The PNCR, is ready for general and regional elections whenever they are called. Along with our Coalition Partners, we are confident that the people of Guyana will vote resoundingly for the APNU+AFC and give us a new mandate to serve.

The APNU+AFC is the party of democracy in Guyana, since we were elected in 2015 we have held two rounds of local government elections, something the PPP deprived Guyanese of for more than two decades. We’re not going to take any lectures from them on democracy.

In 2015, the Guyanese people rejected the PPP after 23 year of rule, during which time they left Guyana to crumble. Since that time the PPP have engaged in a strategy of dishonesty, non-cooperation and outright sabotage of the APNU+AFC government. The reason for this course of action by the PPP, led by its dishonest Presidential Candidate Irfaan Ali is simple; the PPP is trapped in the politics of the past. The PPP still believes in ‘one-party’ government, even though over four decades of that style of governance shows that it is the wrong model for Guyana. They are desperate to grab power back by whatever means they can, and we need to be on guard to ensure that the constitution of Guyana is upheld and that we have fair and credible elections.

The APNU+AFC’s accomplishments in just four years are formidable. Through the leadership of His Excellency, President David Granger, our economy is more resilient and more people are in work. The Government has built and maintained record amounts of infrastructure, cracked down on serious crime, transformed our education and healthcare systems and cleaned the streets of our capital. Finally, unity is bringing Guyanese people together.

As we approach the end of this rainy season I am reminded of how things used to be in our capital city. The regular flooding blighted the lives of Guyanese. It was symptomatic of the PPP’s approach. Irfaan Ali and his party were not interested in fixing our sanitation infrastructure during their 23 long years in government. During their time, communities across Guyana experienced flooding almost every time we had some heavy rain. Homes and businesses were damaged, roads made impassable and children prevented from attending school. We can only guess where the money to pay for improving our sanitation went during this time.

Since 2015, our government has focused on extending and upgrading our canals and irrigation infrastructure and that has helped to reduce flooding. Things have improved to the extent that we now just take it for granted.

The PNCR is pleased to be a partner within this Coalition government and is proud with what it has accomplished. We know real change is neither quick to come by or easy to establish. There is still a lot more to be done. Despite the disinformation, fake news and the doom and gloom messages from the dishonest Irfaan Ali and his cronies in the PPP, we seek to serve the people and secure a better future for Guyana.

Together let’s keep moving forward.
