Chicken shortage affects KFC
The current chicken shortage being experienced across the country is now affecting fast food outlets.
In a notice posted on its Facebook page, KFC Guyana said “Due to the current chicken shortages, we will occasionally be out of strips, wings and sandwiches. We do apologise for the inconvenienced caused.”
The Guyana Livestock Development Authority (GLDA) last week attributed the shortage to a reduction in the number of cases of hatching eggs imported. It also noted that some farmers have complained of reduced growth rates and higher mortality.
The GLDA said major poultry producers have assured that the current chicken shortage would be rectified this week.
