Following a persistent downpour, which made the National Cultural Center Tarmac unplayable on Friday (July 25), the Guinness Greatest of the Streets quarter-final and semi-final stage will now be staged on Friday (August 2) at the same venue.

This was disclosed via an official release from the tournament coordinator Three Peat Promotions.

According to the correspondence, “The torrential downpour rendered the venue unplayable which was certainly disappointing as systems were in place for a wonderful night of action.”

The release further said, “Priority was and must be given to the safety and overall health of the players. Although injuries are a by-product of the sport, we have to use every opportunity to ensure and remove any possibility of injury for the players. That is the most important factor of the event, because without the players they would be no event. Despite the unfortunate incident, we envision a thrilling night of action on Friday, as the teams vie for a coveted final’s berth.”

In the opening match, Broad Street will oppose Leopold Street at 19:00h, with Albouystown-B taking aim at Back Circle from 19:45h and Sparta Boss opposing Sophia at 20:30h.

The fourth quarter-final will put defending champion Gold is Money against Tiger Bay from 21:45h. The respective winners will advance to the semi-final stage. The grand final will be staged on August 3 at Jubilee Park.

Winner of the event will collect $500,000 and the championship trophy. They will also automatically seal a place in the National Championship. The second, third and fourth place finisher will cop $300,000, $200,000 and $100,000 respectively and the corresponding trophy.

Meanwhile, the National Championship which will be contested over two days will commence on August 9 at the Pouderoyen Tarmac. 15 teams are slated to compete in the event, which will conclude on August 10 at Jubilee Park.
