Farmer trailed wife, hid in bushes and then killed wife’s lover – Court hears
A 50-year-old farmer was on Tuesday remanded to prison for murder after he allegedly killed his wife’s lover with an arrow and bow.
Monroe Lawrence of Karaudanawa Village, South Rupununi appeared before the Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court and was not required to plead to the capital offence.
It is alleged that Lawrence between August 5 -6, 2019, at Karaudanawa Village, he murdered Pius Ernest, 32.
The court heard that Lawrence’s wife shared an intimate relationship with Ernest and on August 5, she went to meet him.
It is alleged that Lawrence trailed his wife, his in the bushes and then shot Ernest in the upper part of his body with a bow and arrow.
The court heard that Lawrence escaped but was later arrested by the Police.
The Chief Magistrate remanded Lawrence to prison and transferred the matter to Lethem Magistrate’s Court for August 26, 2019.
