A 39-year-old taxi driver on Wednesday appeared before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan charged with touching a 16-year-old girl without her consent.
Rohan Singh pleaded not guilty to the charge which alleged that the incident occurred on May 22, 2019, at Farm, East Bank Demerara.
Singh was released on $100,000 bail and the matter was adjourned to August 21, 2019.
According to reports, the teen entered Singh’s taxi and requested to be taken to the Diamond Hospital.
It is alleged that during the journey, Singh stopped his car at a location at Farm, and allegedly rubbed the teenager’s belly and tried to kiss her.
The matter was reported to the Police and an investigation was launched, which led to Singh’s arrest.
