The Guyanese players started out on a good note at the CAREBACO Junior Under-19 Badminton International Championship, which is being played at the Garfield Sobers Gymnasium in St. Michael, Barbados.

After the opening rounds, the Guyanese players reached the quarter-finals with Tyrese Jeffrey and Priyanna Ramdhani in Singles, Doubles and Mixed Doubles and Akili Haynes in Doubles.

In the Men’s Singles Round Two, Jeffrey defeated Pedro Aguilar Gonzalez of Panama in a three setter: 21-17, 18-21, 21-15. In Round One, Akili Haynes lost to Kennie King of Barbados 18-21, 12-21

In the Mixed Doubles Round One, Priyanna Ramdhani and Tyrese Jeffrey defeated Dejaun Williams and Zharia Hinds of Trinidad 21-10, 21-8.
