Youth remanded for murder of drinking buddy
A 20-year-old porter was on Wednesday remanded to prison by the Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan for allegedly killing his drinking partner.
Callis Rodridgues of Kumaka, Region One, was not required to plea to the capital offence.
It is alleged that on August 17, 2019, at Kumaka Water Front North West District, he murdered Oswald Henry called “Muff”. Rodridgues was remanded to prison until September 30, 2019 when he will appear at the Aquiro Magistrate’s Court.
According to reports, on the day in question, Henry and Rodrigues were imbibing alcohol at Kumaka Water front, when an argument erupted.
Police said it is uncertain what the argument was about but the suspect armed himself with a piece of wood and dealt Henry several lashes to the head.
As a result, Henry collapsed in an unconscious state; he was taken to the Kumaka District Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
