Police are investigating an accident on the Garden of Eden Public Road, East Bank Demerara (EBD) which claimed the life of a 71-year-old man.
The accident occurred at about 22:30hrs on Friday.
In a statement, the Police said James Agutus of second dam Garden of Eden, EBD, was struck down after he allegedly ran into the path of motorcar PKK 6734 which was proceeding north along the western carriageway
He was taken to Diamond Diagnostic Centre, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
The driver, a 26-year-old resident of Sarah Johanna, EBD is in Police custody assisting with the investigation.
Police said a breathalyzer test was conducted and no trace of was alcohol found.
