A fair-sized crowd turned out at Providence to witness the Guyana Amazon Warriors second warm-up match on Tuesday, but their evening was cut short when the entire Stadium was thrown into darkness.

A power outage during the innings break meant the spectators were only able to see 20 overs of play.

Although a few of the lighting towers were subsequently switched on, management of the two sides opted against taking the field.

The Warriors were up against a Rest XI, whom they defeated by 59 runs after posting 210-6 in the first warm-up game on Monday night.

This time around, the Warriors batsmen found the going tough, managing just 127-7 when the innings ended. Pakistan leg-spinner Shadab Khan, who played for the Rest XI, was outstanding, claiming 3-22 off four overs, one of which was a maiden.

Fast bowler Odean Smith bagged 2-27 and left-arm spinner Veerasammy Permaul 1-12.

Sherfane Rutherford, who batted twice, topscored with 22 in his second turn at the crease, while Keagan Simmons made 19.

The match was the last bit of competitive action for the Warriors ahead of their opening game of the Hero Caribbean Premier League, against St. Lucia Zouks on Thursday at the National Stadium, starting 18:00h.
