A 44-year-old resident of Number 11 Village, West Coast Berbice (WCB), who was recently released from prison, was found with a single gunshot wound to the back of his head early Thursday morning.
Dead is Suraj Sookhdeo also known as ‘Terry’; he was last seen alive on Wednesday evening at around 19:00hrs.
His body was discovered along a dam at Naarstigheid Village, WCB at approximately 06:30hrs. Residents recalled hearing a single gunshot between 23:00hrs and 23:30hrs.
Relatives told the News Room that Sookhdeo had brushes with the law before and is a known drug user.
They revealed that he was released from prison about two months ago for a petty crime.
His family claimed to have no idea as to the motive for the execution-style killing. Detectives were at the crime scene for several hours Thursday.
