Guyana Amazon Warriors captain Shoaib Malik did not take the field for the duration of the St. Lucia Zouks reply in match two of the Hero Caribbean Premier League on Thursday night at Providence.

The Pakistan right-hander was struck a fierce blow to the hand, as he was in the firing line to a shot played by Shimron Hetmyer off the bowling of Christopher Barnwell in the 11th over.

The Warriors #18, sporting a black head wrap, immediately grimaced in pain and required some on-field attention that delayed play for a bit.

After being attended to by Warriors’ Physio, Malik was given the all-clear to continue. He was eventually dismissed in the 16th over for 28 off 29 balls.

A scan was subsequently done and Malik revealed on Twitter that “it’s not a fracture.”

It is not clear if the 37-year-old, who has appeared in 346 domestic T20 games, will be available for the Warriors second match on Saturday, against St. Kitts Patriots from 20:00h at Providence.

It is understood he is being evaluated by the Warriors management and a final decision would be made on match day.

The Warriors had a winning start to their 2019 campaign, beating the Zouks by 13 runs after making 155-9.
