A 3-year-old boy from Islington East Bank Berbice died after he was struck down by a hire car on Friday about 12:45hrs.
The accident occurred on the Islington Public Road. Police Headquarters stated that Dominique Sulker ran across the road into the path of the moving car, HC 9655 which was proceeding south along the eastern carriageway.
He was taken to New Amsterdam Hospital and subsequently transferred to Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
The driver, a 38-year-old resident of Edinburgh, East Bank Berbice, is in custody assisting with the investigation.
A breathalyzer test was conducted and no trace of alcohol was found.
