Riddim Squad, Conquerors U-20 rout opponents in Limacol football

The fourth annual Limacol Football Tournament continued at the weekend, with Riddim Squad and Fruta Conquerors Under-20 team winning via the largest margins at the Ministry of Education ground, Carifesta Avenue.

On Sunday, Wendell Joseph hit a hat-trick of goals to blow GT Panthers out of the park. After Ian Marks opened the scoring in the sixth minute, Joseph belted three shots in an action-pack second half.

His conversions came in the 47th, 65th and 68th minutes, while James Bowman netted in the 64th. Joshua Anthony (46th) and Seon Urquart (52nd) were the goal scorers for Panthers.

More so, an upset of the night came when Timehri Panthers top Camptown 2-0 with goals from Jarel Walcott (7th) and the young talent in Tyrone Khan (85th).

On Friday, Buxton Stars edged Georgetown Football Club 2-1. Michael Stewart brought the equaliser for GFC in the 40th minute after Dennis Fordyce placed the East Coast unit ahead in the 33rd.

The most important goal of the night came from Shemar McPherson in the 79th which seal the first round win for Buxton.

Northern Rangers got the thumping of their lives from Fruta Conquerors Under-20 team. Nicholas McArthur scored twice, in the 24th and 89th, while Ravon Bailey (5th) and Deshawn Rich (10th) were the other point men. Travis Martin scored for Rangers in the 66th.

Round two commences Tuesday with Mahaica Determinators hunting their first win against Police ‘B’ from 19:00h and Santos Under-20 battle Grove Hi-Tech from 21:00h.

With four groups of four, the top teams in each group will progress to the quarter-finals. At stake will be $400,000 for first, while second to fourth will pocket $200,000, $100,000 and $50,000 respectively. Regent Street establishment, WJ Enterprise, is the other sponsor on board.
