Thirty-year-old Leon Murray was on Tuesday sentenced to 18-months imprisonment for pelting his ex-lover with a brick, fracturing his nose and damaging his spectacle.

Murray made his first appearance before Magistrate Faith McGusty on Monday and pleaded guilty to the charge. Police claimed that he inflicted grievous bodily harm on Shawn Solomon committed the act on September 5, 2019.

He was also charged for damaging Solomon’s spectacles, valued $30,000, on the same day in question. He denied this charge.

On Monday, Murray opted to pay Solomon $60,000 as compensation in the matter. The Magistrate remanded him to prison and granted him 24 hours to come up with the money.

When the matter was recalled on Tuesday, Murray told the court that he was unable to come up with the money. As such the Magistrate sentenced him to serve 18-months imprisonment.
