Santos Under-20 Football Team and Mahaica Determinators surged ahead of their opponents when the second round of the group action in the Limacol football tournament commenced at the Ministry of Education ground, Carifesta Avenue, Tuesday evening.

Due to the senior Santos FC being an Elite League team, they could only field their Under-20 team to compete in this tournament, and they have delivered two-in-two.

After topping Black Pearl 3-0 in their opening match, Santos blasted four into the back of Timerhi Panthers’ net.

Marcus Wilson (17th), Rondel Peters (44th), Brandon Solomon (62nd) and Stephon Reynold (67th) were the young men, who tore into the skins of the East Bank unit. Daniel Moshettete had levelled proceedings in the 26th for Panthers.

Mahaica rebounded from 3-0 defeat to Pele to top Police ‘B’ 4-2. Albeit, the final moments of the match were tense with Police taking the scores 3-2, the East Coast United held firm.

The talented, attacking mid-fielder Eon Abel led the way with a first half hat-trick. Diminutive in stature, Abel swirled his way through the lawmen’s defence to record goals in the 6th, 29th and 33rd minutes.

Police came unto the score sheet until the 59th via Shamar Charles, while Leory Charles capitalised on a lapse in defence to make it tense in the 74th.

The rally was too late, as Martin Wills quelled the late fightback with a conversion in the 84th which extended Mahaica’s lead.

Action continues Thursday, with a clash of unbeaten sides Dynamic FC and Pele from 19:00h, followed by Riddim Squad and Pouderoyen from 21:00h.
