A 54-year-old businessman who went to purchase cattle at Babu John, Port Mourant, Corentyne Berbice was shot and robbed of approximately $600,000 on Thursday morning.
The man is currently a patient at the New Amsterdam hospital nursing a gunshot injury to his buttocks.
The News Room understands that at approximately 07:45hrs, a lone bandit, armed with a gun, attacked the businessman and demanded that he hand over the cash.
The businessman had travelled to the area from his home on the East Coast of Demerara.
Sources close to the investigation believe he was traced. Police are investigating.
