Police looking into gang operations, find Lindeners with Army clothing

Two men Monday appeared before Magistrate Sherdel Isaacs-Marcus for having military shirts, property  of the Guyana Defense Force (GDF) in their possession.

Welder Rodwell Fraser, 20, and carpenter Lennox Eswick called Matthew, 23, both residents of South Amelia’s Ward, Linden appeared before the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court on separate charges, which alleged that on September 12, 2019, at South Amelia’s Ward Linden, they acquired military shirts property of the GDF.

The men pleaded not guilty; Fraser was released on $20,000 bail while Eswick was released on $5,000.  The matters were transferred to the Linden Magistrate’s Court for September 28, 2019.

According to reports, on the day in question, Police ranks from the Major Crimes Unit acted on a “tip-off” and conducted a search in  South Amelia’s Ward in relation to a gang operation in Linden.

A search was conducted at Eswick’s home and a camouflage shirt, property of the GDF, was found.

Meanwhile, Eswick after paying his bail was taken back into Police custody pending further charges.
